Helena Field School
A Place-based Educational Enrichment Program
About Us
What if we could use our place to learn? What if we let students help lead with their curiosity and questions? What if we let nature provide opportunities to learn life skills?
Helena Field School (HFS) is an outdoors, place-based education enrichment program that uses the local community and natural environment as a starting point to teach concepts in the sciences, social studies, language arts, and mathematics through hands-on, real-world learning experiences. In addition to academic experiences, Helena Field School aims to help learners grow and thrive, in mind, body, and spirit by providing a space for kids to be free to explore, ask questions, solve problems, form friendships, and become active community members who care about their place and the environment. As a non-profit, HFS values keeping tuition low in all our programs to make an alternative education accessible to all and help eliminate income barriers. HFS hosts Tinkergarten classes (ages 18 months - 8 years), multiple Field School classes (ages 5-15), and summer camps (ages 5-12).
